Birthdays, RAOK's and stuff!!!

After 10 years he still can't spell my name...

But read this and you will know that I let it slide

aww, blush, blush...just so you know.. this is not what I usually get...The cards I get are funny and obnoxious...with fat arse thrown in for good measure. So this was great in itself! He gave $100 and an Ultimate Sweater Machine (I want to makes scarves for all of the walkers on our Diabetes walk team-upwards of about 50 so I thought that would make it easier!) Yes, Rox, I will make a couple for you too!

This lurvly goodness came all the way from Germany... I am in awe! Thank you soooo much Dorothee! Go say hi to her and she'll tell you about Oktoberfest...lol. Oh and a little thank you to Alison for holding Sockapal2za where I "met" Dorothee!

I got a paper crane from Julie (RAOK) but I'll take it as a birthday pressie too :) Thank you, Julie

He He, this came from my youngest sister...she saw it in the store and just knew it was for me!! It's a t-shirt and I am wearing it today. And she came all the way from MA to watch the kidlets while HWWTS&J's went school shopping ALONE! Woohoo! Thank you, Kendra! I love you!!!!

And see the fuzzy goodness by Gracie's cute apparently very large feet? Those are from Susie! Susie~ sorry they don't fit, but they are in her keepsake box ready for her children in another 20 to 30 years...I hope :) Thank you, again and again!

I got e-cards and birthday phone wishes and I forgot a couple of pictures... I'll post more later! With links! Thanks everyone for all the great wishes on the blog, too!

Do you know what day it is????

It's my 30th birthday! I will give you a run down of the cards and gifties later, but I thought about being philosophical (as much as I can be) for now...

Here's what I have learned in my 30 years.

I've learned that despite what Robert Fulgam says, you don't learn everything you need in life in Kindergarten.

I've learned that despite my obnoxiousness, I am still likeable.

I've learned that despite my upbringing, I am a great, caring, loving person (once you get passed the wall)

I've learned that I can get along with monks, children, radicals, punks, crazy, sane, and overly intelligent people and I believe that is a gift.

I've learned the gift of having a friend for a long time... they know you, even when you feel you don't know yourself.

I've learned that I shouldn't be embarrassed by other's actions, I should only be embarrassed about my own.

I've learned to follow my heart, despite my brain and the hurt that may ensue, it makes me, me!

I've learned that it is great to be a young mother, and I have nothing to be ashamed about.

I've learned that you should always "give back"

I've learned that I am sooo fortunate and I really shouldn't be embarrassed about it, because I was very unfortunate also.

Well, I have learned a lot more than that, but I seem to have a residual headache, and seeing as it is my birthday ~ I deserve a nap!

Hope you all have as wonderful of a day as I intend on having!

Feeling better Catch up!!!!

Look at what Rox sent me! She is such a doll. You had better be nice to her, or I'll find you and burn all of your needles/hooks.

My First KnitPicks Order...yahoo

Gracie - splashin' in the tub (No Baby Porn here - nice and modest)

My first Secret Angel Pal Package (she picked me because I read her blog) Thank you, Thank you! Now go visit her :)

Up close and personal shot of the stitchmarkers :)

Sideways picture of the stickers sent for the kiddies (I don't know how to turn the damn picture)

"Picture Me, Picture Me" --- H

This my 2nd Secret Pal Angel package (for details, please look at previouse Thank you post! I am just in awe of the caring people out there! Thank you again!

And finally, I came home yesterday afternoon to find a nice little box with the following in it and a note from Susie. Here's the background... I read Susie's blog everytime she updates and I try to comment as much as I can... Well one day she had mentioned that she was disappointed - why? because her Secret Pal had bailed on her. Well, because I felt bad and I am an avid reader of her blog, I harrassed Rox into letting me be her "Angel" I had no intentions of letting her know that I was her angel. OOOPPPPSSSS! I wasn't very careful and belong to another group with her and used my "anonymous" email there...Duh. Well, my new pal Susie, sent me a wonderful package with a book on spinning and rovings to try! And a much nicer spindle than I had procured just the week before last. Yep - I didn't tell you all... why- because I suck. But I read the book last night and seem to be spinning much better than before. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! ETA::: I forgot about the angora booties, go check them out on Susie's blog until I upload the picture in blogger...sorry :(

oh so pretty

The spindle she sent me (with her nickname engraved in it, so I will always be reminded of her kindness)

And here is the book with my new spindle and my old one :)

Thank yous!

I have 2 very important thank you's to make. One to my SP Angel from Canada (still trying to figure out who you are from your clues) - I got your package on Saturday and have been very sick with some sort of death bed illness. I was so happy to open a package with stickers - for the kids~ and oh so adorable, 2 stitch markers (one winnie the pooh and one a little sheepie ~ both of which my children have already tried to hijack, a cute accessory case, 2 balls of rowan cotton tape in my favorite color~how did you know I've been wanting to try that?, book mark, a handmade card, and a hank of plymouth fantasy naturale.... THANK YOU!!!!
Then, this afternoon, after coming back from the Doctor's (routine for Gracie & T~ because a mom never, ever takes care of herself) There was a box in my Mailbox. I almost ripped it out of the post trying to get it out. I know, I know, y'all want pictures...I promise next post, trying to feel better! And this box was loaded with goodies too. Now mind you, you both would have gotten your own posts, had I been feeling better, and I am very sorry for that, because you both deserve it! This box was from a secret pal angel from MN aka...knitty critter.
I know, I know, get to the good stuff, what was in the box, you dope...Alright here goes:
4 skeins of Gedifra Gigante, lovingly handled by a little boy learning to knit ;), 2 balls of Cascade fixation ( I think I am going to make D, A & Gracie socks), A cute flip flop key chain, 2 balls of Muench Touch Me ~ OMG soooo soft, with a worming warning, easily fixed by washing & drying ~ An 8x10 Magnet Board~I soooo needed this for my Estonian Wrap~ and a chicks with sticks notepad!

I really want you both to know, from the bottom, deepest depths of my heart, that you both made me feel special and worthy ~ in case you hadn't noticed, I'd been a little down ~ I know what it takes to be an angel, because I have been for this round of SP and other swaps. Thank you so much, for taking the time to get to know me a bit, on such short notice. Words just can't express the gratitude I feel. Let me also tell you that there isn't one thing in either package that I don't absolutely love! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!

Thank you Rox, for facilitating the Angels and for allowing me to be an angel and a friend. I hope this next round will be as lovely as this one (long term)

P.S. I haven't replied to comments and fully intend to in the next couple of days, Thanks for your patience.**

The Earth Is Round, So There is No Reason to Fall Off!!!

To Those of you that are wondering "Where Have You Been?" I am here, I am sick, I am going to be 30, I am aggravated (kids are out of camp and their favorite sport seems to be fighting with each other) and I have sooo much to tell you!

1. Losing patience with step-son's GF. I am not a big fan of two-faced liars, thus she has made the top of my shit list. I hope he dumps her!
2. Tuesday was the anniversary of my favorite person in the world's death (My Grandma) She had diabetes and thus the button on the side bar for the Walk for a Cure!
3. My Grandfather is in the hospital and he is being an ornery old man and thinks my dad put him in a convalescent home. Why is he in the hospital, you ask? Because he is stubborn (and stupid at this point) HWWTS&J's owns an HVAC business, we could put a/c in for him for free, but nooooooooo He has to be a jackass (he has severe emphysema and we have had severe humidity) and refuse a/c. Which would have prevented him dehydrating, being put on oxygen, and getting pneumonia. So needless to say, my dad is freaking out.
4. My eldest is visiting with her dad in another state and calls me, not to say hi, or maybe I love you mom, but to ask if she can spend Christmas there. Will someone rip the knife out of my heart and kill me now. Geesh!
5. Did I mention I am going to be 30, I feel as if I have lost my identity, I am no longer the non-caring, punk ass biotch, I used to be. And I find my feelings get hurt easily!
6. I am soooo disgusted with the nasty people that participated in SP5 (If you can't be nice, GO TO HELL and stop hurting my friend's feelings) (Didn't mean to scare you SP6er's)

Good Things:
1. I am watching 3 Audrey Hepburn movies... Can you guess which ones? If you can get all 3 I'll send you a little somethin' somethin'!
2. I got an RAOK from Lanie! Yay, Thank you!!!! I will try to post a pic later...but they are little envelopes made from Magazine pages... They are so cool and recycled...Thank you, thank you. You lifted my spirits!
3. I received in the mail the beautiful hand dyed yarn from Dani. Oh, so pretty and the Earth Day smells like Strawberry Shortcake (not the dessert, the doll, silly) Yum! And she sent me a cute little card with a sunshine in it! Great Idea, Dani!
4. It looks like I am going to make it to 30 (that's positive, right?)
5. So far, so good with SP6 - Check out all of the cool buttons people have made!
6. Last but not least, My online friends always seem to brighten my day, Thank you!

I know I had said that Thursdays would be quiz day and I thought about skipping it, but if you don't like a long post, don't read it...lol!

I am Rabies. Grrrrrrrr!

The UFO's

Well, here it is: MY POST O' SHAME!

I can't believe that I have the attention span of a fly. Here is a group shot of my UFO's. Way too abundant for my liking :)

There are a whole lot of projects waiting in the wings... even more abundant (what's a girl to do???)

Good news!!!! I have start Sockapal2za sock #2 and yes, I will bore you with pics, even though you have seen the sister sock a bazillion times. I must look like I am accomplishing something.

On the homefront... I have a very bad habit of falling down stairs. Now, we moved in December and our new house has carpeted stairs. You would think this would keep me from falling, right? NNNNOOOOO, Come to find out... the carpeting only cushions the fall a little bit ;) ~Lori, if you are reading this...This is probably why I was a bit cranky, yesterday. Sorry.~ I am hoping that this little accident doesn't impede on my knitting today... I have lots to do, as you can tell. Let's not forget that I must keep Gracie stylish, Fall is coming, people!!!!!

Please, don't forget about the Diabetes Walk. I will post pictures soon of raffle stuff... (If you would like to donate stitch markers or any other stuff for the raffle, that'd be great too)

OMG.... Did I tell you I am one of the many co-hosts for Secret Pal 6... Go sign up now!!!

Give Peace a Chance

Well, today started as any of my days start... Getting the kids ready to go somewhere. So I got them off to where they were going, got the car washed, came home to rewash the tires and rims (hubby is a little bit anal about this). Noticed something in my driveway and proceeded to promenade (it was a word of the day the other day) down the driveway, with my big arse swinging, only to be stopped by one of my previously mentioned neighbors (not the dog snatcher) We introduced ourselves and now I have half faith in neighbors, woohoo!
My friend Janine is coming up in a couple of weeks (Hi, Janine) ... things are going along nicely...

Looks like I may be out of my OMG it's only 24 days until my 30th birthday funk!

By the way, if you didn't find my last post funny, sorry I have a "different" sense of humor.

~~~In knitting news~~~
I have started sock number 2 for sockapal2za.
I am still plugging away at my sleeves for the Noro Scoopneck Cardi.
I am trying to refrain myself from dropping everything and knitting Grace another (very cute) baby sweater.
I have put Clapotis on the back burner until I finish my sock and cardi.
If you ask me about any other project I have started somewhere, I will give you that stupid I have no idea what you are talking about LOOK.
I hereby wish you all a wonderful and happy weekend. (I will try to post, not that you really care, but no promises)
Till then....
HWWTS&J - The E-not so Hollywood TRUE STORY
I am only writing this post because my friend Rox asked, so here goes....(this is the PG13 version)
I had had my first daughter about 6 months before and worked in this small neighborhood grocery store, around the corner from where I lived. I had just kicked Dickie out (names have been changed to protect Dylana...he he he) Well, in walks HWWTS&J (he had just purchased the house next door to the grocery store). Now mind you, my first impression of HWWTS&J is what an abnoxious jerk. Well, after a little bit of time goes by, he must have gotten comfortable with me as a person. He would come into the store and announce "My what big boobs you have" ... okay, you can close your mouths now... And I would proceed to tell him "Oh, them, just a product of Wonder Bra" He: "Can I See" Me: "Sure, I'll bring you one in" I still chuckle at this quick response. Now I must tell you, before you go thinking he is an absolute pig... he loves to go for the shock factor. So after a couple of weeks of this... I was going to the beach this one day, so I had my wonder bra bikini on (I still have it, but don't fit in it...geesh) and in comes HWWTS&J and we go through the same dialogue, except I flashed my bikini top at him... Boy, oh, boy, if you could only see the mouths dropping and red faces of both my boss and hubby....rotflmao. We started dating shortly after that... And now the girl that didn't want children or to ever be married....has done both.
Hope you all got a chuckle!
Edited to correct spelling ~ sorry blogliners
Geeky
You are 29% geek
You are a geek liaison, which means you go both ways. You can hang out with normal people or you can hang out with geeks which means you often have geeks as friends and/or have a job where you have to mediate between geeks and normal people. This is an important role and one of which you should be proud. In fact, you can make a good deal of money as a translator.
Normal: Tell our geek we need him to work this weekend.
You [to Geek]: We need more than that, Scotty. You'll have to stay until you can squeeze more outta them engines!
Geek [to You]: I'm givin' her all she's got, Captain, but we need more dilithium crystals!
You [to Normal]: He wants to know if he gets overtime.
Your Funny of the Day
As sent in an email to me from my Brother-in-law Bill:
IDIOTS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD: I live in a semi-rural area. We recently had a new neighbor call the local township administrative office to request the removal of the Deer Crossing sign on our road. The reason: "too many deer were being hit by cars" and he didn't want them to cross there anymore. This one was from Kingman, Kansas
______________________________________________________
IDIOTS IN FOOD SERVICE: My daughter went to a local Taco Bell and ordered a taco. She asked the person behind the counter for "minimal lettuce." He said he was sorry, but they only had iceberg. And he was a Kansas City chef!_____________________________________________
IDIOT SIGHTING: I was at the airport, checking in at the gate when an airport employee asked, "Has anyone put anything in your baggage without your knowledge? To which I replied, "If it was without my knowledge, how would I know? He smiled knowingly and nodded, "That's why we ask." Happened in Fort Worth, TX
_______________________________________________________
IDIOT SIGHTING: The stoplight on the corner buzzes when it's safe to cross the street. I was crossing with an intellectually challenged coworker of mine when she asked if I knew what the buzzer was for. I explained that it signals blind people when the light is red. Appalled, she responded, "What on earth are blind people doing driving?!" She was a probation officer in Wichita, KS
___________________________________________________
IDIOT SIGHTING: At a good-bye luncheon for an old and dear coworker who was leaving the company due to "downsizing, "our manager commented cheerfully, "this is fun. We should do this more often." Not a word was spoken. We all just looked at each other with that deer-in-the-headlights stare. This was a bunch at Texas Instruments.
________________________________________
IDIOT SIGHTING: I work with an individual who plugged her power strip back into itself and for the life of her couldn't understand why her system would not turn on. A deputy with the Dallas County Sheriff's office no less
____________________________________________________
IDIOT SIGHTING: When my husband and I arrived at an automobile dealership to pick up our car, we were told the keys had been locked in it. We went to the service department and found a mechanic working feverishly to unlock the driver's side door. As I watched from the passenger side, I instinctively tried the door handle and discovered that it was unlocked. "Hey," I announced to the technician, "it's open!" To which he replied, "I know - I already got that side." This was at the Ford dealership in Canton, Mississippi
*and they walk among us ... and REPRODUCE
ETA:
Another IDIOT IN FOODSERVICE: I was waiting tables in a restaurant in Big Sur one summer when one evening the cook used fresh basil to make a spinach salad. Another night, the same cook sliced, seasoned, and cooked up cucumbers when the evening's vegetable side dish was supposed to be sauteed zucchini. Luckily I caught it both times before serving it to customers!
Well, I thought maybe I would bend your ear...
Diabetes runs in my family so this year, I have decided to participate in "America's Walk for Diabetes" Now here is where you, my online, knitting friends come in. I need your help! Would you donate to my cause? I would appreciate it. I would like to follow in some other persons' footsteps and offer some stuff! I am thinking Lantern Moon, Manos, Koigu, are you seeing where this is going? It happens on Sunday October 16, 2005. BTW, the prizes that are offered for the walkers can be donated back to the cause ( which I fully intend to do ) I am thinking for every $10 that someone donates, they get 1 chance to win one of many things. (So once you have donated your $10 your name stays in the pot for the whole raffle thingy, so the more I add the more chances you have... and the more money you give the more chances you get. Don't forget that this donation is tax-deductible and goes to a cause that sometimes gets washed out with all the other causes.
So heres the link and I will try to get some sort of button for my sidebar.
  • Donate Here
    Thanks in advance!
